Ridna Shkola Ukrainian Heritage School at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha
The Ukrainian Saturday School in Winnipeg, under the care of the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha, continues more than a century of Ukrainian schooling in the province of Manitoba. The purpose of the school is the cultural preservation of the Ukrainian identity of our young people. Its most important task is to bring our student to the study of the Ukrainian language, literature, religion, culture, art and history of Ukraine. Our school actively supports Ukrainian educational projects and works closely with the children’s and youth organisations of Manitoba.

Curriculum
Ukrainian Language
- Preschool – ages 3 to 6: play and conversation in Ukrainian.
- Junior classes – ages 6 to 8: learning to read and write, developing spoken language.
- Middle classes – ages 8 to 13: Ukrainian grammar.
Ukrainian Studies
- An introduction to the history and geography of Ukraine.
- Nurturing love of the homeland.
- Growing a sense of dignity as members of our people and a tolerant attitude towards other peoples.
Foundations of the Christian Faith
- Teaching children the principles of Christian morality and conduct.
- Forming spiritual and moral values.
- Preparing children for First Confession, Solemn Holy Communion and active church life.
